South notes - Thursday 3/31

This afternoon is the final date for in-person browsing at the Book Fair! From now until 6:00pm, everyone is welcome to join us in the South Media Center to look at books and make purchases. Teachers' Wish Lists have also been posted if you'd like to gift a book to your child's teacher(s) or contribute towards a book for their classroom library. So far, we have sold over $3,500.00 worth of books, which is outstanding! Online sales will continue through Sunday night at https://bestbookfairs.chrislands.com/. Thank you for supporting South's library!


6th grade Australia students presented their book talks with a creative element. Their projects came out great!
This week, health screenings were conducted in Phys Ed classes, with the help of nurses and counselors across the District. I have gotten multiple compliments from visiting support staff who commented on how pleasant and courteous South's student body is. They were blown away by the number of students who thanked them for their help & guidance, asked how their day was going, and wished them a good rest of the day. South Bulldogs are Thoughtful & Kind!

After all the proceeds of last week's Community Service Club raffle, Student Council Bake Sale, and the Carnival were tallied, our students raised over $1,000.00 for the Marge Crispin Center. Way to go, Bulldogs!

Three-fer Thursday from South! 5/22/2025

Three from South: (1.) Tomorrow--Friday, 5/23--South will host our annual Memorial Day Assembly starting at 1:00 PM. 8th graders have been working hard to prepare their Veterans Projects and a group will present them while our entire school honors local veterans and the fallen heroes of our Armed Services.  Students are encouraged to  wear red, white & blue  to show your patriotic spirit for our veterans and honored guests.  There will be  no student dismissals after 1pm , as it is too disruptive to the memorial assembly.  This year's assembly will be held in the large Gym due to the nor'easter, but guests are still welcome! If you would like to attend the assembly, please enter through the Main Entrance to get a visitors sticker and then proceed down to the Gym. Mark your calendars! Trivia Night Woof - 4/28

  (1.) 7th grade Earth models adorn our hallways year-round! (2.) We're looking forward to the return of Trivia Night at South this evening! For those who have signed up, please  arrive at 6:00pm.  Trivia Night is expected to be  over at 8:15pm  (a slight adjustment from the previously-mentioned 8:45) for anyone carpooling.  Wear costumes and bring your vast knowledge! (3.)  The next PTO meeting will be on Tuesday, 5/3, at 7:00 PM. Agenda to follow. (4.)  Check out the April drone footage showing progress of the construction of the new South Middle School! Bulldog Bulletin - 6/3/2025

Congratulations to all the students that participated in the Trills and Thrills music festival this past Friday - your hard work and effort paid off! Your playing and love for music impressed one of the adjudicators so much that he wrote an email to our superintendent letting him know how much he appreciated South Middle School’s music program!  7th & 8th grade orchestra won gold and the 7th & 8th grade Band and Concert Choir both earned silver.  This Thursday, 6/5, is the last day for Late Bus this school year. Students can still stay after for extra help, but you’ll need to arrange for a ride home or plan to walk! Homework Lab also ends this Thursday, so if you plan to stay after, you’ll need to make plans with one of your teachers.
