(1.) CALENDARS - updated links! Some folks said the calendars I shared yesterday would not post to your iCal calendars on your phones. Today was the 3rd day of school, and the routines of the new school year are well under way! Some tips & tricks as we move ahead: (1.) DAY 4 Wednesday, 9/9, will be the first Day 4 of our school year. For our new students, it is important to note that means your half-cycle classes will switch over for the first time. Check your schedule for Day 4 and you'll notice that 2 half-cycle "elective" classes will be new courses with new teachers in different classrooms. Make sure you know where you're going, and don't be afraid to ask for help finding a new room location! (2.) MORNING TRAFFIC Traffic is improving quickly in our driveway. Please note: Morning dropoff should begin as soon as you're over the speed bump at the latest! Folks are used to waiting to pull down in front of the building, but traffic flows much faster when you unload earlier.   We are so excited to see students returning to South tomorrow or starting with us for the first time! ARRIVAL - Starts at 7:42 AM; school starts at 8:02 daily!   Tomorrow, students should report to these locations upon arrival at South: Grade 5 - Cafeteria Grade 6 - Small Gym Grade 7 - Large Gym Grade 8 - Large Gym Homerooms will be posted in the entrances and homeroom teachers will meet students to bring their group upstairs. BREAKFAST SERVED DAILY! All Massachusetts are entitled to one complimentary breakfast and one complimentary lunch daily. Happy New Year, Bulldogs! The first day of school is Wednesday, September 2nd, and we are excited to see all our returning students and get to know the newest members of our community. On the first day of school, homeroom assignments will be posted by the entrances, and homeroom teachers will meet students to bring everyone upstairs to begin the day. We will extend homeroom to go over the new materials for the new school year, but by midmorning students will start switching classrooms to meet their new teachers!

(1.) LAST DAY OF SCHOOL Wednesday, 6/24, is the last day of school for students and staff. Middle schools will follow a Day 1 schedule Dismissal is at 11:45 AM Students may order a Grab-N-Go lunch. Breakfast will be served in the Cafeteria, as normal. Report cards will be distributed in paper copy tomorrow morning. They will be posted on Aspen after dismissal. (2.) Many of you are aware that an East Middle School student was seriously injured in a car collision on Friday evening while riding his bicycle to a baseball field in town. At South, our hearts go out to the young man and his family, and we pray for his quick and thorough recovery. (I am aware that his name is out there in public, but the family has asked for privacy while they are dealing with their situation, so I will not include personal details in my message.) Tomorrow, Monday 6/15, Student Council's Spirit Week will start with a Braintree Blue Day as we rally positive wishes and hopes for this young man. Please wear BLUE attire and/or baseball gear to show support for your peer as he continues to receive medical care. SOUTH MUSIC Congratulations to our Music students who performed in the Trills and Thrills music festival last Friday and faced adjudication. The judges recognized our students' talent and hard work, as well as that of Music teachers Ms. Ouellette and Mr. Coronella! Concert Choir won Gold, Band won Silver, and Orchestra won Gold. We are  thrilled to celebrate our musicians! SOUTH PTO The June PTO meeting will be held at South on Tuesday, 6/9, at 7:00 PM in the Media Center. (Please note, this meeting was rescheduled due to sports games needing to be made up after rainouts!) GRADE 8 APPRECIATION CEREMONY All South Bulldogs and their friends and family are invited to celebrate our 8th grade "graduates" as they mark the completion of 8th grade on Wednesday, 6/17, at 6:00 PM outside South.  Guests should bring your own lawn chairs or blankets to sit on, or be prepared to stand.
