South Cinco for Thursday, 10/9/2025

FREE WEBINAR FOR PARENTS Next Wednesday, 10/15 at 12pm, McLean Hospital is offering a free, online webinar,  "Helping Kids Thrive Mentally and Emotionally: A Guide for Parents" . Even if you can't watch the webinar live at noon, if you  register online  they will email a video link to watch a recording at your convenience. This may be of interest to many of you as you try to usher your child(ren) safely and successfully through their adolescent years.  SOUTH PTO The October PTO meeting is Wednesday, 10/15, at 7pm in the South Library Media Center This month's "dine out" fundraiser is a little different than normal: PTO is working with  D&N Provisions  for a benefit meat sale. Orders placed at  https://tastethequality.com  between 10/20-10/23  and using the coupon code "SOUTH" at checkout  will earn 10% back for PTO. South Clubs getting started

Several Clubs and Extracurricular Activities are getting under way at South! This Tuesday, there were auditions for the Concert Choir. All students are invited to audition if you like to sing and perform (even if you don't take Chorus in school).   See  Ms. Ouellette  in the  Chorus room, 1086. Join the South Dance Club! Informational meeting after dismissal today in room 2044 (Ms. Chiles). See  Ms. Chiles ,  Ms. Littlewood , or  Ms. Cottam  with any questions. All students interested in joining the South Student Council should come to the kickoff meeting TOMORROW, this Thursday, 9/26, at 7:30 AM in the Media Center. That's before school, so you'll need to arrange for a ride and please come to the front door at the school's Main Entrance. Ambassadors Club is a great way to contribute to the school during the day. March 3 Woof - Upcoming Events at South

  We have a number of fun events planned at South as we move into the Spring! (1.) Trivia Night - Thursday, 3/24, 6:00-8:45 PM Please see the flier & registration form for more information about Trivia Night. Student teams can register by returning the attached form to your homeroom teacher, or by filling out this online registration:  Trivia Night Registration . If your child is interested in participating but hasn’t been able to form or join a team yet, please reach out to their Guidance Counselor or homeroom teacher for help getting them set up with a team that is looking for members. Mr. Sturtevant is also looking for help as he researches and writes the trivia challenges; students are invited to fill out the following questionnaire to share what topics they’re interested in:  Trivia Topics 2022 . The school year has just started, but in many ways it feels like we’re fully back in the swing of things! 7 th and 8 th grade soccer tryouts are this week, and the first game is Thursday.  The GSA holds their first meeting today and the Newspaper Club will start tomorrow after school.  On Friday, 8 th graders heard about the optional spring field trip to Washington, D.C. For students looking for groups to get involved in, more clubs & activities will be starting up in the next couple of weeks.  Listen to daily announcements and look for flyers around school to see what you might be interested in! Woof - 10/23/2017

Good evening, This Friday will be our annual October Festival of Motion!   Students have been collecting donations of $10 or more to help support extracurricular events at South, defray the cost of buses for field trips throughout the year, pay for each student’s Agenda, and much more.   On Friday, the fund-raisers will enjoy some time with friends during the Walk-a-Thon event.   Students are invited to wear costumes on this day to add to the festivities! (In accordance with the Dress Code, costumes should not be revealing or suggestive and may not include weapons or other inappropriate items.   Masks/wigs/hats can be worn during OFM, but should be taken off in classrooms/halls/stairwells.)   We look forward to a fun celebration of school spirit this Friday!
