We can’t wait to see all our South Bulldogs at school tomorrow morning! Classrooms are being made comfortable and welcoming, teachers are setting up lessons and seating charts, and summer shipments are being distributed across the building. There is a buzz of excitement and eager anticipation throughout South! Student schedules will be viewable on Aspen later today for those who are curious. All student schedules will be provided tomorrow morning during an extended homeroom session.  Students can see their Guidance Counselor for any schedule issues.  At this time, s tudents can find their homeroom on ParentSquare.  5th grade homeroom teachers will meet their students in the Cafeteria tomorrow morning after arrival, to lead students to their classroom. GETTING TO & FROM SCHOOL Student arrival begins at 7:40 AM and students must be in homeroom by 8:02 AM. 7th & 8th graders report to the large Gym and 5th & 6th graders report to the small Gym daily.  TOMORRO...

Wednesday Woof from South Bulldogs!

Springtime in a middle school is an exciting period full of field trips & culminating projects. Between celebrations & state testing, student schedules get tinkered with and tweaked on a seemingly nonstop basis. Although the end of the school year is looming in everyone's mind--and especially on the sunny, hot days-- we still have over 10% of the school year left.  Please make every effort to arrive at school on time in the morning  by 8:02 , to schedule appointments outside of school hours, and to avoid early dismissals from school. Beyond teachers' academic goals for their classes and the social growth events that make lifelong memories for our kids, it reinforces to good habits to be on time and present at school throughout the day.  If you do have to report an absence ,  please email the school nurses or call the Main Office to let us know.  A medical note is required for an absence to be excused and a provider's office will give you that at the time...

South grand opening - Wednesday, September 6th!

Teachers assembled at South today for opening meetings and put the finishing touches on their classrooms while planning for the year ahead. We are so excited to have students arrive tomorrow! All bus riders should have received assignments by now. Bus passes will be handed out during the school day tomorrow and are students' "ticket to ride" for the afternoon, so make sure all accounts are paid! Students getting dropped off in the morning will come in the front door. Drivers: follow the yellow arrow below to come in our main driveway. At dropoff, pull all the way down to the end of the sidewalk in front of the building. Please be considerate of the other drivers while we all get used to the new driveway.  Do NOT follow the blue arrow; the old building's driveway will be closed all year.   Do NOT follow the orange, purple, or red arrows. The lower driveway loop is  only  for buses during the school day. Teachers will direct students as they arrive. 5th grade students ...

Warm Weather Wednesday Woof - South Cinco!

Spring is in the air! It's nice to see everyone's warm weather spirit this week as we knock down the first round of MCAS testing.  (1.) With the return of sunshine and warm afternoons, it never hurts to remind middle schoolers of the rules.  Our Braintree Middle Schools' Dress Code is attached in PDF format and is also pasted at the bottom of this message . The schools respect the right of every family to make primary decisions about your child's attire, but we do need to maintain standards of safety, hygiene, respect, and a positive school atmosphere. We appreciate your support at home! (2.)  Report cards will be sent home on Friday, 4/14.   Please sign and return one copy to homeroom teachers after the April Break.  Contact your child's Guidance Counselor with any questions or concerns. (3.) Our April  PTO meeting will be held tomorrow night, 4/13, at 6:00pm in the South Media Center.  Please see attached agenda.  (4.) Last month, our 8th g...

Rules We Live By

With the return of springtime weather, it's a good opportunity to revisit some of the school rules, to ensure everyone has the opportunity to enjoy those sunny afternoons and the team days, field trips, and recess blocks without having to worry about any behavior mishaps. (1.) DRESS CODE - Warm temperatures are predicted for the end of this week. Please take some time to review the  Braintree Middle Schools' Dress Code  with your child (PDF attached). Some of these expectations are a bit outdated (and, in some cases, hard to shop for!) so the general rule around here is: shorts/skirts/dresses have to be "long enough" to not be revealing. This is particularly tricky in the spring, when kids have grown more than they think, so make sure to try on those outfits the night before, so you're not scrambling in the morning if something turns out to be too tight, too short, etc.  The golden rule for school attire is that clothing should cover the things that are supposed t...
