South School Store
With the new South building, one of the great features is a pre-vocational room to help students learn life skills like cooking in the instructional kitchen and money skills and communication in the store front. Students in South's AIMS and ABLES programs are joined by classmates to help with money calculations and customer service, practicing functional skills with a wide variety of peers as other classmates purchase novelty items from the South School Store. The school store will open later this school year once a shop schedule has been settled and the students have learned their introductory lessons to operate the store. Last year, the store was open during various study halls and it was a hit! South PTO wanted to support the store by helping to purchase needed supplies and inventory for the sales, and representatives contacted local businesses. Liberty Bay Credit Union came through big time making a donation of $250 to support the mission of the South school store! CEO John Barron noted, "At Liberty Bay Credit Union, we're proud to support the Braintree PTO and the great work you do for local students and families. As your community credit union, we're here to help with financial services, support for education, and member scholarships for higher education." Visit LBCU.org to learn more.
