Congratulations to all the students that participated in the Trills and Thrills music festival this past Friday - your hard work and effort paid off! Your playing and love for music impressed one of the adjudicators so much that he wrote an email to our superintendent letting him know how much he appreciated South Middle School’s music program! 7th & 8th grade orchestra won gold and the 7th & 8th grade Band and Concert Choir both earned silver.

This Thursday, 6/5, is the last day for Late Bus this school year. Students can still stay after for extra help, but you’ll need to arrange for a ride home or plan to walk! Homework Lab also ends this Thursday, so if you plan to stay after, you’ll need to make plans with one of your teachers.
Don't forget! Bus registration ends next Friday, 6/13. See the Districtwide post for bus registration information.
Please check the Yearbook Sales list posted at your homeroom entrance. If anyone thinks they purchased a yearbook and it is not marked on your list, please see Mrs. Norris in room 1060 or Mrs. Drayer in room 1055. There are a limited number of extra copies to sell to anyone who still wants one. Please see Mrs. Norris or Mrs. Drayer anytime between now and June 12th with your $40 payment.
It's not too late to purchase your school portraits from this school year through the Hayward Photography website. See attached flier for more information! A portion of all sales support South.
Mark your calendars!
Field Day will be next Thursday, 6/12.
South’s Grade 8 Appreciation Ceremony will be Monday, 6/16, starting at 6pm. All are welcome!
The annual ceremony is planned to be outside, weather permitting. Guests should bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on and water if it's hot out! Seating will be provided for the graduates.
8th graders are invited to stay after the ceremony for a Dinner-Dance until 9pm put on by South PTO to congratulate you! The dinner-dance event is for grade 8 students only.
Grade 8 students rising to Braintree High School next year must submit residency documents in order to be enrolled. Send documents to the Main Office or upload them directly on School Connection. Grade 7 students who will be attending South in the fall, get ready! Next year, you will be required to submit proof of residency documents in order to advance to high school. A Braintree education is a valuable commodity, as we all know!
Grade 8 Veterans Projects will be on display in the South Library this Friday, 6/6. We encourage all members of the community to take some time to come in and explore our students' research into the lives and personal histories of our local heroes. If you decide to attend, please visit between 8 AM - 2 PM and sign in at the Main Entrance.
The South Garden Club is looking for families to volunteer to care for the South Garden for a week over the summer. This would entail 2-3 visits spread out over the week. Tasks would include watering, harvesting, and checking for and reporting any problems (you will be emailed directions in advance). Everything you harvest is yours to enjoy!
We are looking for volunteers for the following weeks: 7/14-20, 7/21-27, 8/11-17, 8/18-24, 8/25-31
