SOUTH MUSIC

Congratulations to our Music students who performed in the Trills and Thrills music festival last Friday and faced adjudication. The judges recognized our students' talent and hard work, as well as that of Music teachers Ms. Ouellette and Mr. Coronella! Concert Choir won Gold, Band won Silver, and Orchestra won Gold. We are thrilled to celebrate our musicians!
SOUTH PTO
The June PTO meeting will be held at South on Tuesday, 6/9, at 7:00 PM in the Media Center. (Please note, this meeting was rescheduled due to sports games needing to be made up after rainouts!)

GRADE 8 APPRECIATION CEREMONY
All South Bulldogs and their friends and family are invited to celebrate our 8th grade "graduates" as they mark the completion of 8th grade on Wednesday, 6/17, at 6:00 PM outside South. 
  • Guests should bring your own lawn chairs or blankets to sit on, or be prepared to stand. Only 8th graders and staff will be provided seating for the ceremony. Please, no umbrellas or sunshades as they obstruct views during the ceremony.
  • After the ceremony, South PTO invites all 8th grade students to enjoy a dinner & dance in the South cafetorium. Students only, no guests, please.
FIELD DAY
South will hold Field Day for all students on Thursday, 6/18. Be prepared for outdoor activities at some point during the day.

NO SCHOOL - 6/19
There will be no school on Friday, 6/19, in recognition of the national holiday Juneteenth. Enjoy the long weekend, capped by Fathers Day on Sunday!

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL
Mark your calendars! The last day of school will be Wednesday, 6/24. It is a half day with dismissal at 11:45 AM. 
  • All school books, loaner Chromebooks, library books, and school locks should be returned by Thursday, 6/18. Teachers will provide more details as they collect school materials.
  • Report cards will be issued on the last day of school.

SPIRIT WEEK
The week of June 15-18, Student Council will be holding our last Spirit Week of the year. Stay tuned for each day's theme!

Three-fer Thursday from South! 5/22/2025

Three from South: (1.) Tomorrow--Friday, 5/23--South will host our annual Memorial Day Assembly starting at 1:00 PM. 8th graders have been working hard to prepare their Veterans Projects and a group will present them while our entire school honors local veterans and the fallen heroes of our Armed Services.  Students are encouraged to  wear red, white & blue  to show your patriotic spirit for our veterans and honored guests.  There will be  no student dismissals after 1pm , as it is too disruptive to the memorial assembly.  This year's assembly will be held in the large Gym due to the nor'easter, but guests are still welcome! If you would like to attend the assembly, please enter through the Main Entrance to get a visitors sticker and then proceed down to the Gym. Mark your calendars! Trivia Night Woof - 4/28

  (1.) 7th grade Earth models adorn our hallways year-round! (2.) We're looking forward to the return of Trivia Night at South this evening! For those who have signed up, please  arrive at 6:00pm.  Trivia Night is expected to be  over at 8:15pm  (a slight adjustment from the previously-mentioned 8:45) for anyone carpooling.  Wear costumes and bring your vast knowledge!    With the holiday season upon us, there are several ways  you can support South Middle School South is always looking for fundraising opportunities that allow folks to shop as you normally would  and  support South, earning commissions at no cost to you , our community of supporters. With the holiday shopping season upon, there are some easy ways to benefit the school without much additional hassle! Box Tops for Education Purchasing a lot of groceries for the upcoming feast? Scan your receipts to see if any qualify for Box Tops! The Box Tops program no longer requires you to clip and collect the actual, paper box tops. Instead, you can  download the app on your cellphone  and scan your receipt after any grocery shopping trip. I've also found it's worth scanning my receipt after a trip to most pharmacies and "big box" department stores, just in case!
