Woof - 10/23/2017

Good evening,

This Friday will be our annual October Festival of Motion!  Students have been collecting donations of $10 or more to help support extracurricular events at South, defray the cost of buses for field trips throughout the year, pay for each student’s Agenda, and much more.  On Friday, the fund-raisers will enjoy some time with friends during the Walk-a-Thon event.  Students are invited to wear costumes on this day to add to the festivities! (In accordance with the Dress Code, costumes should not be revealing or suggestive and may not include weapons or other inappropriate items.  Masks/wigs/hats can be worn during OFM, but should be taken off in classrooms/halls/stairwells.)  We look forward to a fun celebration of school spirit this Friday!

PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
You can now sign up for Conferences with your child’s teacher. Go to https://ptcfast.com/schools/South_Middle_School to sign up tonight!  You should get a confirmation email within a half hour.  If you have any trouble signing up – or if you don’t get a confirmation email – please call the Main Office at 781-380-0160 for help.

STUDENT ABSENCE FROM SCHOOL
If your child has to be absent from school, come late, or leave early, please let us know so we’re not concerned!  Call the Main Office line – 781-380-0160 – and dial “1” to leave us a message. If you’ve gone to a medical appointment, please request a note from the doctor’s office or have them fax it to us: 781-356-0657.  Notes written by parents/guardians can help explain a student’s absence, but will not excuse it – only a letter from a professional office can medically excuse absences.

Students who regularly take a bus are welcome to take the Late Bus home if you stay after for extra help with a teacher or for the Homework Club in the Media Center.  You will need a bus pass from your teacher to board the late bus.  Late Buses leave South between 3:15 to 3:30, Monday through Thursday.

South Cinco - 3/31/2025

Many of us were slow getting to South today, after returning late on Saturday night from the annual 8th grade Washington DC trip. It was a great trip! Bulldog Bulletin - 6/3/2025

Congratulations to all the students that participated in the Trills and Thrills music festival this past Friday - your hard work and effort paid off! Your playing and love for music impressed one of the adjudicators so much that he wrote an email to our superintendent letting him know how much he appreciated South Middle School’s music program!  7th & 8th grade orchestra won gold and the 7th & 8th grade Band and Concert Choir both earned silver.  This Thursday, 6/5, is the last day for Late Bus this school year. Students can still stay after for extra help, but you’ll need to arrange for a ride home or plan to walk! Homework Lab also ends this Thursday, so if you plan to stay after, you’ll need to make plans with one of your teachers. Don't forget! Bus registration ends next Friday, 6/13.  See the Districtwide post for bus registration information. Please check the Yearbook Sales list posted at your homeroom entrance.  If anyone thinks they purchased a y...
