The school year has just started, but in many ways it feels
like we’re fully back in the swing of things! 7th and 8th
grade soccer tryouts are this week, and the first game is Thursday. The GSA holds their first meeting today and
the Newspaper Club will start tomorrow after school. On Friday, 8th graders heard about
the optional spring field trip to Washington, D.C. For students looking for
groups to get involved in, more clubs & activities will be starting up in
the next couple of weeks. Listen to
daily announcements and look for flyers around school to see what you might be
interested in!

On Thursday, we invite all parents & guardians to come
meet your child/children’s new teachers.
- · 7th and 8th grade students will bring home their schedules on Thursday, and families should bring those to Back to School Night, starting at 6:30.
- · 6th grade teachers are following a different format. They will offer 2 sessions in the Auditorium. Families will have the opportunity to meet all the 6th grade teachers in one place, and will hear a presentation about each class, how middle school works, and what life is like at South. Join us at 5:45 pm if you have older students and want to meet their teachers during the normal Back To School Night schedule, or join us at 6:45 if your 6th grader is your first or only South student! We hope this format will help new families get acclimated to the South environment.
Arrive early and carpool if possible, as our parking areas
fill up fast!
