The PTO meeting scheduled for this week has been rescheduled to next Wednesday, 5/13, at 7:00 PM in the South Media Center. We hope apologize for any inconvenience and hope to see you then!
Today is the beginning of Teacher Appreciation Week and your South PTO started off strong, providing a true Breakfast of Champions for the South staff with coffee and breakfast items donated from Dunkin by the Andrade family!
How can you join in the fun to show your appreciation?
- Send in a baked good tomorrow, Tuesday, 5/5, to keep the warm fuzzies going all week. Home-baked or store-bought, sweet or savory, the staff will appreciate every family's effort to recognize their hard work all year! Baked goods & other donations can be sent in all week to help keep the Staff Dining Room well-stocked with treats!
- Make a Venmo donation (@SouthMiddlePTO) for staff treats or to purchase gift cards for a teacher raffle
- Send a notecard or email with an example of how a teacher or staff member has made a positive impact for your kid. Better yet, have your kid send one!
School Lunch Hero Day last Friday recognized all the Food Services workers keeping kids well-fed and well-loved in the South Cafeteria!- Administrative Assistants Day fell during the April Break.
- National Principals Day was also last Friday & Assistant Principals day is in the fall for some reason!
- National School Nurses Day is this Wednesday, 5/6!
Shout out to everyone who sold tickets for the South PTO April Calendar Raffle! This fun, annual event raised $3,500. These funds are used to pay for teacher "wish list" requests that support special initiatives in their classrooms. Some examples include:
- Spanish teachers purchased paperback books to start reading in the students' new language, so they're encountering native language rather than translations
- South's Dance Team purchased new pom-poms for their halftime performances at the basketball games and the Showcase
- The 7th grade Lucky Charms team purchased crafts to embrace their new team name, voted on by students to kick off the school year with an optimistic vision
- The ABLES program purchased a binding machine to provide students with visual reminders of daily skills and to publish student books
- StoryWorks subscriptions helped teachers connect literacy goals to Science and Social Studies topics through engaging, age-appropriate articles and writing tasks
