(1.) Tomorrow is Think Pink Day at South Middle School! Every South Bulldog should wear pink to raise awareness about breast cancer and to show support for folks battling breast cancer and their loved ones supporting them. The Braintree High School Black Students Union is organizing Think Pink Day (At BHS, it's on Friday, but South had to go one day early because of Friday's Color Wars for OFM!) and donations will be sent to their charity of choice. No donations required, but we'd love to every student wearing pink on Thursday to show support for everyone confronting breast cancer!
(2.) Speaking of O.F.M., it's planned for this Friday. What do you need to know?- Carnival rides and a walkathon are on order for the day to celebrate everyone's efforts to fundraise for enrichment activities like afterschool clubs, field trips, assemblies, and classroom extras. Over the last few years, we've raised over $20,000 on average, which has allowed us to keep costs down throughout the rest of the school year, and to bring innovative programs to South.
- Our goal this year is for every student to collect $20 in donations or more. That would bring nearly $13,000 to spend before June! Make sure to do your part before Friday by contributing on SnapRaise, the South PTO Venmo account (@southmiddlepto), or send direct donations to the Main Office in cash or check payable to "South Middle School PTO".
- Students will show their school spirit by participating in Color Wars on Friday. Wear your grade's color and show off your wacky creativity!
- Grade 5 - Yellow
- Grade 6 - Green
- Grade 7 - Blue
- Grade 8 - Red
(3.) For the artistically inclined, don't forget to showcase your talents by entering the Yearbook cover contest!
(4.) Term 1 ends in 2 weeks! Make sure you're up-to-date in all your classes, or make plans now with your teachers for any make ups or retakes!
(5.) As I walk through classrooms, I notice a lot of students sitting along the walls with their chromebooks plugged in to charge, especially during the first few blocks of the day. Please help your child develop a habit of charging their BYOD device overnight or plugging it in each afternoon when they arrive home. There are only so many plugs in their classrooms, and we want everyone to come to school prepared to learn!
