We are immensely proud of our 7th grade English teacher, Mrs. Christine Norris, who was honored last night at the Norfolk County Teachers' Association annual awards ceremony. Mrs. Norris was nominated by her colleagues for the NCTA Honor Award, saying: Christine’s contributions to South are immeasurable. She is the type of person who, if she’s going to do something, she’s going to take the time to do it right. This year alone, she’s co-running the Grade 8 Washington, D.C. trip, co-creating the Yearbook, co-creating the Field Day Murder Mystery activity, co-running the South dance, and co-running the South Student Council, which this year was combined with the Community Service club because, you guessed it, she runs that, too! When you ask her about running all of these things, she humbly downplays her involvement. Don’t let her fool you--she’s one of the hardest-working teachers at South. To be honest, even that extensive list of projects is incomplete; Mrs. Norris is someone who is willing to pitch in or take the lead with countless activities to help give a well-rounded "middle school experience" to every South student. She is a lynchpin on the South faculty, and deserves all the accolades!
Next Thursday, 6/13, at 6:00pm, all Bulldog families are invited to join us for South's Annual Grade 8 Appreciation Ceremony, where every grade 8 graduate will receive their Certificate of Completion and some will earn special honor awards. The audience will sit or stand behind the graduates on the field between new South and old South, so bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on.
- After the ceremony, grade 8 students will move inside to enjoy the South PTO Dinner-Dance.
- Donations of small water bottles are requested to keep our dancing grads well-hydrated! Drop water donations off in the South front vestibule (or have them shipped straight to the school).
- Any leftover water will keep the students hydrated on Field Day.
Don't miss this Saturday's performances of Newsies! The students and staff have been hard at work preparing a show that is certain to entertain!
June is Pride Month. You can purchase South themed Pride tees (or other BPS schools) through the Braintree High GSA webstore: https://www.bonfire.com/store/braintree-high-school-gsa/. Proceeds benefit the Trevor Project.
All school materials need to be returned before the end of the year. Any school library books need to be returned immediately. School locks will be returned to homeroom teachers on the last day of school.
