South school dance this Friday!

This Friday, March 1st, South's Student Council and the South PTO will be hosting two dances. The 5th and 6th grade dance will be from 4:00-6:00pm and the 7th and 8th grade dance will be from 6:30-8:30pm. The theme of the dance is "Hollywood" and entertainment will be provided by DJ Bubba. Light snacks will also be sold by the PTO. Dress is casual and the dance is for South students only. Tickets are $5 each and tomorrow is the last day to buy tickets for the dance in advance, before school or during lunch! Tickets will also be available at the door. Please see Mrs. Norris, Mrs. Pyliotis, or a Student Council member with questions!

Finally, I just have to say it, because we've gotten questions... For those who have not gone to a middle school dance before: most students "go dutch" to the dance & arrive alone or with friends, so don't expect to bring a date! There will only be light snacks available, so make sure to plan your dinner accordingly.

Parents: South PTO is looking for volunteers to help with concession sales. Sign up here to donate your time: Sign Up Genius. You can also choose to purchase snacks for PTO to sell. Go to their Amazon wishlist to have donations delivered straight to the school, or make your own purchases at your wholesale store or grocery of choice and drop them off at South's main office! Donations of small water bottles, Gatorade, etc. are also welcome.

See you all on Friday!

Opening the new South building

After years of planning, design, and construction, South Middle School will open its doors on September 6, 2023 to 5th grade through 8th grade in our new building!  This week, teachers got permission to start coming in to set up classrooms, and they have been dodging construction and subcontractor crews for the past few days, preparing their rooms and adding their personal touch to make the brand new spaces ready for the students.  The energy throughout the building is downright gleeful as folks see the light-filled classrooms, spacious hallways, and state-of-art facilities that will be supporting our students’ learning and growth going forward. Of course, the faculty is always excited to welcome a new class of scholars every fall, but this year takes that sense of rebirth and limitless possibility to a whole new level!  As eager as we are to welcome students and families to the new building, it is not yet safe to open our doors to the public. The construction team is putting on the fi

South grand opening - Wednesday, September 6th!

Teachers assembled at South today for opening meetings and put the finishing touches on their classrooms while planning for the year ahead. We are so excited to have students arrive tomorrow! All bus riders should have received assignments by now. Bus passes will be handed out during the school day tomorrow and are students' "ticket to ride" for the afternoon, so make sure all accounts are paid! Students getting dropped off in the morning will come in the front door. Drivers: follow the yellow arrow below to come in our main driveway. At dropoff, pull all the way down to the end of the sidewalk in front of the building. Please be considerate of the other drivers while we all get used to the new driveway.  Do NOT follow the blue arrow; the old building's driveway will be closed all year.   Do NOT follow the orange, purple, or red arrows.
